Science-Fiction & Fantasy Worldbuilding for Original IP

A powerful creative vision is only the beginning. Production needs a world it can actually build from.

I develop original science-fiction and fantasy worlds: their characters, cultures, rules, and conflicts. I bring these elements together in stories and reference documents, keeping the world’s voice and atmosphere intact.

Worldbuilding · Canon · Narrative design · Creative documentation

A clear reference for the worldIts rules, terminology, and tone are documented in one place.
Worldbuilding that supports storyCultures, technologies, and factions shape what characters want and what stands in their way.
Choices with consequencesScenes and quests draw on the world’s rules, conflicts, and stakes.
A shared reference for collaboratorsWriters, artists, and designers can refer to the same account of the world.
Workflow

Five connected layers of one narrative system.

The five samples below come from my independent work. They show different parts of my process: establishing tone, defining a world’s rules, developing factions, designing quests and choices, and writing the scenes themselves.

Layer 01Tone IdentityDefines the voice, imagery, and atmosphere of a world.
Layer 02World RulesEstablishes how the setting works and what limits its characters face.
Layer 03Faction PressureDevelops competing goals, loyalties, and sources of conflict.
Layer 04Quest & ChoiceConnects objectives, player decisions, and their consequences.
Layer 05Narrative ExpressionBrings the world and its conflicts into prose and scenes.
Layer 01 · Tone Identity

Psychopunk Tone Bible

A guide to voice, imagery, and rhythm for an original psychopunk setting.

FocusKeeping a consistent voice across surreal settings and changes of body.

In this sampleTonal principles, recurring motifs, sentence rhythm, and a short prose excerpt.

What it showsHow a tone guide informs the language of a scene.

Layer 02 · World Rules

ATLAS 3I / Second Earth

A generation-ship setting shaped by social hierarchy, ritual, and cosmic belief.

FocusConnecting the ship’s physical structure with its culture and conflicts.

In this sampleWorld rules, social divisions, rituals, and a narrator’s journal excerpt.

What it showsHow worldbuilding shapes both a society and the stories told within it.

Layer 03 · Faction Pressure

The Siamic Peninsula

A fantasy setting built around conflict between religious authority, political power, and magical experimentation.

FocusGiving factions distinct beliefs, interests, and reasons to clash.

In this sampleFactions, characters, magic, regional history, and a central story hook.

What it showsHow several parts of a setting contribute to the same conflict.

Layer 04 · Quest & Choice

The Artifact of Silent Ruin

An investigation quest in which an unfamiliar artifact draws the player into a struggle between factions.

FocusGiving the player different ways to respond to the same discovery.

In this sampleThe quest hook, encounter stages, alternate paths, and faction allegiances.

What it showsHow the player’s choices change who they help and who opposes them.

Layer 05 · Narrative Expression

PROTOTEUS: The Waking Cycle

A science-fiction prose excerpt told through an unstable body and a tightly controlled point of view.

FocusSustaining a distinctive voice through an unsettling scene.

In this sampleSensory detail, recurring imagery, internal narration, and shifts in sentence rhythm.

What it showsHow language carries the world’s atmosphere through a character’s experience.

About

Worldbuilding, narrative design, and original fiction.

I’m Aaron Asaad. I write science fiction and fantasy and develop the worlds behind the stories: their cultures, beliefs, technologies, and conflicts. My focus is on how those worlds shape the people who live in them.

I hold a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Linguistics & Translation. My background in localization, writing evaluation, and education informs how I work with language: preserving voice, keeping terminology consistent, finding contradictions, and making complex ideas clear.

The work shown here comes from The Revealed Cosmos, my independent creative universe. I develop its fiction, lore, quest concepts, visual direction, and music as parts of the same world. The samples let you read the work itself and see how I approach tone, structure, and worldbuilding.
